Well, I think its a red shouldered hawk feather. I lost track of what I was carving. The feather is carved from African Mahogany, bog oak (wood that fell into a bog some 4000 years ago and collected minerals causing the deep black color) and aspen. The feather is set into a spectacular thick slab of flame birch. This board shimmers.
It measures roughly 12”x 14” and is finished with walnut oil and beeswax.
