This Barn owl feather is carved from Mesquite, Black Walnut and Aspen and hangs from a natural white birch branch set on a slab of curly American Cherry. Having feathers hanging around reminds us to look outside, protect the wild things and this one won't get you in trouble because it is 100% wood. The picture I used to carve this feather is the one that led me to discover that feathers from protected owls were being sold on Etsy, Amazon, Ebay and other sites, in violation of the Migratory Bird Act.I called US Fish and Wildlife and they have launched an investigation. If you see something you know is wrong, don't be afraid to call officials. They cannot be everywhere at once, and need citizens to sometimes bow the whistle.
Proceeds from this feather will go to Horizon Wings in Ashford, CT.
