the baby humpback is carved from Wenge and aspen, the mother from Peruvian walnut and aspen. Set in a highly figured solid slab of ambrosia tap hole sugar maple. This tree was a producer of fine maple syrup until it became weakened from ambrosia beetles as many are when the tap holes are invaded by the bugs. This board has feet on the back to keep it from wobbling, solid slabs tend to warp and twist with time. Finished with walnut oil and beeswax, food safe.
Thank you Brian, for caring so deeply about whales, sharks and all things ocean.
